Sensory Cooking Class
Newmarket Ontario – Chef Herbert Pyke from the Real Canadian Superstore hosted a unique sensory cooking class for clients of DeafBlind Ontario Services. Clients can create savory dishes through a unique sensory experience with the assistance of Intervenor.
The clients, who are deafblind, were led through the experience with the assistance of Intervenors. Intervenors act as the eyes and ears of the deafblind, providing the visual and auditory information they need to interact successfully with their environment
DeafBlind Ontario Services provides support for adults who are congenitally deafblind across the province with community-based housing, trained Intervenor services, independent living skills, work experience and other specialized support.
Programs such as Chef Herbert Pyke’s sensory cooking class allow individuals who are deafblind to learn new activities through experiencing textures and tastes.
