The Friends of the East Gwillimbury Library presented an evening with novelist Alissa York just back from her European tour this past month. Alissa's latest novel, Effigy, was published in 2007 and was short listed for the Giller Prize as well as the being picked for an amazon.ca best book of 2007 award. Effigy is set on a Morman ranch in 19th century Utah, inspired by true events and blended with fiction from Alissa's imagination this is a haunting novel of loss, memory and despair.
