2008 July > Heel 'N Wheel-A-Thon For The Crohn's & Colitis Foundation

The Heel N' Wheel-A-Thon for the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation is an annual walk and BBQ event which is held at Fairy Lake to raise funds for the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation. A major contributor to this year's event was "Denise's Golden Team", in honour of Denise Devane who passed away suddenly on February 1, 2008 after an 8-day turn in her illness (she had been diagnosed at the age of 28). Denise worked for the York Region District Schoolboard as a secretary for the Heritage Schoolhouse and is survived by her husband, Larry, and three daughters; Shannon, Sandra and Heather. Denise's Golden Team brought together over 70 family and friends on the day of the walk to raise funds for research and to find a cure for Crohn's and Colitis.
