Saint Joan of Arc (SJA) Catholic High School in the City of Vaughan is hosting a basketball game that will see York Regional Police officers join the SJA teacher’s team to compete in a game against students to raise money to support orphans in Jamaica.
The game will take place on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at 12:30 p.m., at St. Joan of Arc Catholic School, located at 1 St. Joan of Arc Avenue in the City of Vaughan. Students wishing to attend have been asked to purchase a $3 ticket.
The annual charity game began in 2007 after Constable Davis Ahlowalia lost his life in a motor vehicle collision on January 6, 2007 and Saint Joan of Arc Catholic High School staff and students are still grieving the recent loss of three of their students who died as a result of two unrelated collisions on York Region roads. Since the annual event began, more than $5,000 has been raised and will be donated to Friends of the Poor (Canada) Inc. Donations will be accepted at the door for any member of the public or York Regional Police wishing to attend this special event.
